What is a major?

A major is a specialisation in a chosen area of study and is designed to develop your knowledge and skills in a particular area. To complete a major, you need to undertake an approved combination of subjects (units of study). Students can find out what subjects make up a major by reading Table 1 in the Faculty of Science handbook.

For some degrees, the major is explicit in the degree title, for example Bachelor of Psychology. For other degrees, like the Bachelor of Science, you select a major from those available within the degree.
