What exactly are these scholarships the Faculty is offering?
The Faculty of Science is offering up to 50 scholarships to commencing Research students. These scholarships are named UPA- Science scholarships. View the terms & conditions

Scholarships are offered to students in the following discipline areas:-

- Chemistry
- Environmental Science
- Geosciences
- History & Philosophy of Science

Are these scholarships offered for both Masters and PhDs?
Yes.
How does the ranking for UPA(Science) scholarships work?
Local students:-
All applicants who have lodged applications for Australian Postgraduate Awards will be considered automatically. Top ranked students are awarded APAs. The next students are offered University of Sydney Postgraduate Awards (UPAs). The next students on the ranking list who are Faculty of Science students will be offered University of Sydney Postgraduate Awards (Science).
International students:-
The UPA-Science scholarships are run in conjunction with Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (EIPRS). Students who have already lodged applications for Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarships for 2008 will be automatically considered. Top ranked students are awarded EIPRSs. Unsuccessful applicants will automatically be considered for the UPA (Science) scholarships.
Students who have not yet applied for the EIPRS scheme will not be considered for 2009, but will have the opportunity to apply for 2010 through the next round of the EIPRS application process. Please note that the UPA-Science scholarships for international students offers a stipend to cover living expenses only.
I am currently enrolled in an Honours Year. I want to apply, but I think I might end up with an Honours degree Second Class, Division 1. Can I still apply?
You are most welcome to apply, but to be successfully awarded a Science UPA you must hold a first class Honours degree or equivalent.
What is a first class Honours degree equivalent?
